“Thank you”: President Obama prepares to leave office, but not American politics

President Barack Obama is leaving the White House with the same attitude that he had upon entering it — grateful and hopeful, against all odds.

He has expressed these same thoughts to reporters.

In a video posted on Friday at the Obama Foundation’s website, the former president said “After eight years in the White House, Michelle and I now rejoin all of you as private citizens. We want to thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the incredible privilege of serving this country that we love.” After that, he and First Lady Michelle Obama discussed their post-presidential plans.

In case you needed further evidence that the Obama era is over, the president was also seen leaving his letter for President Trump in the Oval Office.

And in case you’re sad to see Obama leave, you can always watch both his inaugurations, and remember what was.
