Manchester on Alert: Pictures From the Concert Bombing and the Aftermath

Much of Britain came to a stop for two minutes on Thursday, as the nation held a moment of silence to honor the 22 people who died when a bomb went off at an Ariana Grande show in Manchester, England.

The commemoration was the latest to mourn the victims, who included children and parents waiting to pick up young concertgoers. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack on Monday.

The bombing, which also killed the assailant, Salman Abedi, 22, was the deadliest terrorist attack in Britain since 2005.

The country has been on the highest state of alert since Tuesday, indicating a further attack “may be imminent,” as investigators try to determine how the bomb was assembled and what help Mr. Abedi might have had.
