Kirsten Gillibrand vows to serve full six-year term

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is pledging to serve out a full six-year term if she wins re-election next month.

The New York Democrat, who has long been considered a likely 2020 presidential contender, was asked in a debate Thursday whether she can assure voters that she would serve out a second full term if she emerges victorious in the midterm election.

“I will,” she said. Pressed further by the moderator on the issue, she said point-blank, “I will serve my six-year term.”

Mrs. Gillibrand is favored to win re-election.
