Carter Page sues DNC, Perkins Coie law firm for defamation

Former Trump campaign aide Carter Page sued the Democratic National Committee and its legal team for defamation this week.

Mr. Page told Fox News’ Sean Hannity Monday night that the suit is about more than just money.

“I mean there have just been so many lies, as you are alluding to, and you look at the damage it did to our Democratic systems and, you know, our institutions of government back in 2016. I’m just trying to get some justice,” he said.

The lawsuit goes after Perkins Coie, a law firm that represented the DNC, and some of their partners, Mr. Page explained.

The defamation claims are based on the controversial Russia dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele for Fusion GPS.

The dossier, which documented salacious allegations about President Trump, was funded in part by the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign as opposition research for the 2016 election.

Republicans argue that the dossier was peddled in the FBI and Justice Department in order to justify obtaining a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant against Mr. Page to spy on him. The intelligence community denies the allegations.
