Carrier Can’t Wait To Replace All Those Jobs Trump ‘Saved’ With Good Old American Robots

cybermen

The numbers for the amount of jobs Donald Trump “saved” from Carrier just keeps dwindling. At first he claimed 1100 jobs were saved, but nope! It turned out to be only 800, because he was counting jobs that were not even in danger of going to Mexico anyway! Whoops!

Now, it turns out, Carrier has plans to replace the American workers whose jobs didn’t go to Mexico with jobs for American robots!

ThinkProgress reports:

The company’s plans were confirmed by Greg Hayes, CEO of United Technologies, Carrier’s corporate parent, during a CNBC interview earlier this week.

“We’re going to… automate to drive the cost down so that we can continue to be competitive,” Hayes said. “Is it as cheap as moving to Mexico with lower cost labor? No. But we will make that plant competitive just because we’ll make the capital investments there. But what that ultimately means is there will be fewer jobs.”

Allow me to point out here that there is literally no “need” for Carrier to cut down on costs. Last year, United Technologies spent over $ 54 million on salaries for seven executives. The year before? $ 34 million on four. Greg Hayes himself made $ 2 million more than he did the year before. That is a lot of money! Does he need more money? Is he hurting? Is there a gold-plated island he’s had his eye on somewhere that he just can’t live without?

How To Fix: Crepey Skin

Beverly Hills surgeon explains at home fix for crepey skin around the arms, legs, and stomach.

At this point, it’s not need, it’s greed. They don’t need to cut labor costs to remain “competitive” — they want to cut them so they can have more money. Which is a different thing. Greg Hayes needs to explain that he needs to cut all these jobs for people because he simply cannot be expected to live on a mere $ 10 million a year like some kind of peasant.

Of course, now the company will be able to go ahead and eliminate those jobs and still get its tax break! What a deal! Except for the workers! Works out nicely for everyone, except all the people who won’t have jobs as soon as they figure out that robot thing.

The asshole Trump installed as Labor secretary, Andrew Pudzer of Carl’s Jr., is a big fan of automating everything, because robot workers can’t sue you for pinching them on the butt or nothing. Just last month, he told Business Insider that robots were “always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, there’s never a slip-and-fall, or an age, sex, or race discrimination case.”

I, for one, do not welcome our robot job stealers.
