Another Trump Staffer Sending Weird Russian Emails? YOU DON’T SAY.

Putin was workin’ hard, y’all.

Another day, somebody else on the Trump campaign sending weird emails about Russia. It’s so bizarre how literally every single person on that campaign seemed to have at least a handful of Russians on speed dial. Maybe that was part of the job interview!

CNN reports that congressional investigations into whether or not the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to steal the election stumbled upon an email sent by Trump aide Rick Dearborn, about whether “top Trump officials” might be interested in hooking up with Vladimir Putin under the bleachers after school:

The aide, Rick Dearborn, who is now President Donald Trump’s deputy chief of staff, sent a brief email to campaign officials last year relaying information about an individual who was seeking to connect top Trump officials with Putin, the sources said.

The person was only identified in the email as being from “WV,” which one source said was a reference to West Virginia. It’s unclear who the individual is, what he or she was seeking, or whether Dearborn even acted on the request.

Rick Dearborn, Rick Dearborn, Rick Dearborn. Why do we know that name? Oh yes, we remember, he was one of Jeff Sessions’s boys, who had a hand in putting together Donald Trump’s foreign policy team, which was led by Sessions. Dearborn MAY have been responsible for bringing Carter Page, literally the dumbest American ever recruited by Russian spies, onto the team. It’s super-weird how Jeff Sessions’s name is always coming up with this Russia stuff, since he doesn’t recall even one of the meetings he had with the Russian ambassador. He was gone fishin’ at the time, best as he remembers.

CNN reports this email happened in June of 2016, and that Dearborn seemed “skeptical” about this Russian/West Virginian offer to let the Trump team get up close and personal with Putin.

Hey, remember what ELSE happened in June of 2016? That’s right, Donald Trump Jr.’s big fun sexxxy Russian meeting in Trump Tower!

And who was the “WV” person sending the email promising sweet alone time with Putin? It’s unclear! But smart people on the internet like Yashar Ali and Sarah Kendzior are just pointing out that West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, who recently suddenly became a Republican and delivered unto Donald Trump a tender tongue bath onstage at a recent rally, has done A LOT of coal business with the Russians. If you want to go down the rabbit hole of Justice’s Russian connections, click on Kendzior’s name above. Suffice it to say that it’s quite plausible that Russia, in its efforts to infiltrate the Trump campaign, might have tried to use Justice as yet another possible entry point.

Recently, we learned about another Trump staffer, a low-level hire named George Papadopoulos, who seemed to spend his entire tenure with the campaign trying to set up meetings between top officials and Russia. CNN notes that both the Papadopoulos and the Dearborn emails were found in a bundle the Trump campaign willingly handed over to Congress, so you’ll pardon us if we assume they’re irrelevant in the big scheme of things, and that the real Russian collusion — you know, the part where hackers were (ALLEGEDLY!) being paid and companies like Cambridge Analytica were (MAYBE!) doing extra special dirty work targeting voters with fake news — was happening behind closed doors, away from prying eyes.

For now, we’ll just file this under “DRIP DRIP DRIP,” and assume that Robert Mueller is getting close to figuring out where the bodies are really buried.
